" The First Presbyterian Church organized 1733, church - 1738. Morristown's first hospital when illness raged '77, '78 '79 in Washington's army. Morristown's first school, known as the "Steeple School" held in entrance room beneath spire. By Emma Van Pelt - 1893 Drawn from ancient authentic, and only semblance of Church upon an old time sampler taken her for copying and "in trust" for later day history and pronounced by the Late Rev. William Durant, former Pastor and Editor of the combined register of the church as correct."
